Game Room: Bites the Dust

Image
Game Room is one of the highest TA games when it comes to achievements. Not because its difficult, just because it takes so much time, and above all else cost. So with it being next to last week in tourney I figured id start it. Seems I may have picked a bad time. At the moment Game Room is unplayable. It loads up about 1/4 of the way on the progress bar, and then stops. Ive let it set for an hour and it never advances. I reached out to XBOX Support (via Twitter) and to no surprise was the first one to notify them of this. So now we wait, and see if Game Room comes back to life, or will it bite the dust only to be uncompleted by the masses. Will update once I know more.

Paperboy HD - Imagining a remake

Image
Its a running joke between my good friend Sean Sapp (@SeanRossSappMMA) and myself that Paperboy 2 is not only the rarest game ever released on any system, but also the best game ever created (neither of these points being true by a long shot) but after our Twitter conversation about the new XBOX One DRM policies getting scrapped, Sean tweeted this to me: It got me thinking. What if Paperboy did get a remake for the next generation? Back when Paperboy came to home consoles, times were simpler. Even the Paperboy himself was still realistic. A job you can imagine a young boy doing in his neighborhood during summer vacation from school, to earn cash to buy himself Nintendo games, the latest Ninja Turtle action figure, or pay his yearly subscription fee for Nintendo Power. The enemies in the game have always been out in left field though. During his route the paperboy would encounter anything from guys rolling tires in the street, mummies, jack hammers and even haunted lawn mo

Pokemon HeartsGold Version: Taking me back to 1998

Image
Last week, followers of my twitter (@IrateDrake) saw me post that my Internet was out. So I decided to game, since I don't have an XBOX One, Internet outages don't really hamper me just yet. But being in a Gamer Score competition does. For the achievements help our team, they have to be timestamped and unlocked online, So scratch 360. On PS3, I had only started BF3 and that was all online multi player, I didn't feel the need to go through that games abysmal single player story again. So I opened a plastic container I had shoved in the closet. Inside I found my old DS and popped in a copy of Pokemon Hearts Gold Version, I got earlier at a yard sale. It started out as a "Just to test it out" but soon turned into a set down and play for real thing. I have since been carrying my DS with me to play on lunch break and when my wife is watching Revenge on NetFlix, I boot it up. This game is pure nostalgia to me, even though I never played it originally. Back

find+collect - A must have Windows Phone App for Game Colectors

Image
When I made my jump from Android to Windows Phone, I was left in a bit of disarray. All my apps I loved and used so much of, were now gone. Sure, I had achievements now, but everything else, gone. But finally Windows Phone started to catch on and my apps have started to return. One I used a lot on droid was called "Shelves". Its like a digital library, where you can input your collection of games, book, CD, DVD, whatever into it and be able to see the item in your collection. Image and all. The other day, I searched for Shelves on Windows Phone Store, and found it wasn't available, but found something better. A little app called "find+collect". It works just like Shelves did but doesn't have a bar code scanner. I emailed the creator Delilah and she informed me that there is an update of another version coming this August, that will integrate the bar code scanner, so adding items to your collection will be even simpler.  The application

Nintendo Has Lost It's Vision

Image
So I'm watching the Nintendo Direct video, and I'm sad.  Nintendo, the once high and mighty, have lost all vision. They keep releasing the same games over and over again. So far another Pokemon, another Mario World (now with cats) and a Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Remake has been announced. Just now another Donkey Kong Country title. Nothing new, nothing extraordinary. I love Nintendo franchises as much as the next guy, but come on. Give us something new, something original not these remakes and updates. Bayonetta 2 brings us a new hairstyle. A new Smash Brothers is coming to the wiiu and 3ds, but not till 2014.  So what is there exactly coming out that will hold WiiU fans over till then. Nothing. Nintendo fans aren't getting anything till this fall. Sad. Just plain sad....

Where Theres Smoke : Microsoft Cancels All Post-E3 Media Roundtables

Image
Ive always said "Where there is smoke, there is fire" There is a lot of smoke coming out of Microsoft's Camp today. As per Steve Tilley's Twitter, Microsoft has issued a PR statement, ceasing all post-e3 media round table discussions. Usually after an E3 press conference, most console manufacturers carve out time for the media. Time for some Q&A about the system and the concerns (DRM, ALWAYS ONLINE, USED GAMES). Press this year will not get the opportunity to do such a thing. Citing the cancellations are due to some changes in executives schedules. My Thoughts Wow. Talk about avoiding the issues. Looks like no ones going to find out about Used Games, DRM, Always Online or anything. I understand what they are doing, avoid the questions and keep customers in the dark. But that's a very shady business practice. Blaming the cancellation on an executives schedule change is bullshit. E3 has been planned for a year ahead almost 2 years each year.

Halo: Spartan Assault - Coming to Windows 8 PC and Phones in July

Image
Finally!!! Microsoft hasnt forgotten us gamers on their Windows 8 OS and Windows Phone Platform. Halo: Spartan Assault is a new entry in the Halo Universe that find you playing as Sarah Palmer (from Halo 4). The game itself is a top down third person  shooter, that kind of looks Halo Wars esque. My first thoughts upon first viewing trailer was " Finally a on the go Halo Wars!!!".  Then I saw that it was a third person shooter and was like "OK, not as exciting but still pumped". The story is focused on Palmers first as a spartan, and will introduce new weapons and things of that nature. It will use adaptive twin-stick controls, which are said to be inspired by classic shooters such as Smash TV and Total Carnage. "We've built the game for simplicity. We've spent a tremendous amount of time on the controls for this game, so it's something that people can jump in and play right away," said executive producer Dan Ayoub. Players will

Play Report: Assassins Creed 3 - Yet Again

Image
OK, so this game is long as hell to complete. So far since my last report, ive managed to: Find all the Trinkets Find all Almanac Pages Find Captain Kidds Treasure Complete the Boston Fighters Tournament Find all Feathers I dont have access to my Raptr right now so I cant tell you all how much time ive spent knocking this out, but its taking forever. I actually uploaded the OST for AC3 on my HDD and have been playing it along with my gameplay and it helps quite a bit. It feels more complete now. Ive also found some more bugs but no of those really effected me, except for when chasing the almanac pages and they were invisible so I didnt really know which way they went. Other than that, and a peddler displaying on map but nowhere to be found when I got there. The Treasure Hunt missions were the most fun Ive found on these secondary missions. I like the whole get in get out concept of a few of the missions, especially when escaping the fort or sinking ship. Had my hand
