Podcast on the Way

Image
Things are finally starting to return back to normal around our homestead, so I figured what better time than this weekend for us guys at TSG to record a podcast. We think we have a layout that works, and believe we can deliver something that you all can enjoy. Of course, it may be the worst thing you've ever heard, and may make your ears bleed while you lose brain cells. Either way were doing it. What the hell right? Our plans are to have it up next week sometime after recording it this weekend and making edits I'm sure (nothing ever goes right the first time). Hopefully you guys will love it. Tune in next week...

DuckTales HD Remake brings my Childhood Back to Life

Image
DuckTales, if you read the title or even heard mention of its name and didn't instinctively want to say "awoohoo" then you were clearly born after 1995 and/or never got to experience the greatness of DuckTales for the NES. When I was a wee-lad I never had many NES games, they were costly and  my parents couldn't afford much. So instead my Dad would sometimes stop at Video Solution (our local video rental place) and would rent me a game for the night. I got to play alot of games this way, but never got to fully divulge in them. DuckTales was one of those titles. When I had it, it was great, the music, the platforming mechanics and everything else I can still remember from it. DuckTales and Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers for NES are probably still on the account as our most checkouts to date (Yes, place is still open). So you can imagine the nostalgic rush I got when I heard Capcom was coming out with the HD remake coming to XBLA, PSN and the WiiU (all 4 of you o

Shark Dash Released for Windows 8 Phone

Image
So I don't know when this game officially came out (it just showed up on my phone) but Shark Dash is out and its only .99 cents. The Dark Knight is also out but IMHO it cost too damn much so I'm not covering it. $6.99 for a phone game is just to much for today's market. So buy Shark Dash....

Real Soccer (Football) 2013 Free on Windows Phone 8

Image
Windows Phone 8 users listen up. Real Soccer 2013 has been released to the marketplace and is available for download. Best of all its free. I haven't played the game yet nor am I a soccer fan but free is free. It also looks like its got 2 versions also. One for US and Canada, the other for everyone else. Basically just a title change, but looks like it might be an achievement stack also, and a free one at that. If you are in the US and want to also download Real Football 2013 do the following: (**ON A LUMIA 920**) Go to Settings>Language+Region Change Country/Region to United Kingdom (or whatever)  Restart Phone, Go to Market again and find Real Football 2013 > Download Then just change settings back to US and restart again.

XBL Deal of the Week - Easy Achievement Points

Image
This week is one of the first weeks I can remember with so many easy achievement games on sale. This weeks deals are: NiGHTS into dreams... - 400 MSP Sonic the Fighters - 160 MSP Fighting Vipers - 160 MSP Virtua Fighter 2 - 160 MSP Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown - 400 MSP Karateka - 400 MSP JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD Ver - 800 MSP The highlights of course being Sonic, Vipers, VF2 and VF5 Sonic the Fighters is one of my easiest arcade completions to date and took me maybe a half an hour for all 200 400 GS. I think all of us here at Thumbstick Gamer agree that this is a must grab. Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter 2  were also released at the same time as Sonic, and were also notorious for being super simple. I just never grabbed because of my lack of points at the time and because I was wanting to get them on sale. Well here it is. VF5 also has a very low TA score which means its also simple. I know what i'll be buying this week....

- My Wii U Rant -

Image
The Nintendo Wii U, or Virtual Boy 2.0 as I like to call it, seems to be having a couple issues getting off the ground at this point and I fear that Nintendo’s days in the Video Game business may soon be numbered, and I’m honestly saddened. First a little back story. I grew up with the Nintendo Entertainment System, it was my second video game console, after the Tandy 64 that is, and I spent a lot of my childhood enjoying the fun and entertainment it brought me.   I never had a Super Nintendo as a child but did have friends who had one, I was a genesis guy myself, but after the Nintendo 64 they drew me back in. The N64 is probably my favorite consoles of all time, it’s one of those systems I can still pickup and play for hours upon hours after all these years.   So naturally I then progressed to the GameCube which I didn’t spend a ton of time with, Microsoft released a little thing known as the XBOX which came with a title known as Halo, which took the majority of my teen ye

Dead Space 4 gets the boot after weak Dead Space 3 Sales

Image
Dead Space 4 has been cancelled during pre-production according to reports we are finding all over the nets.   The sequel, which was in pre-production at Visceral Games, but has been cancelled by EA execs after Dead Space 3 failed to reach its target sales goal. It is also said that Visceral Montreal developer of the yet to be released Army of Two: Devils Cartel, who was also developing prototypes and mocks up for DS4, has also said to have been closed. The source also then goes on to give some insights into Dead Space 3 development. The project was almost cancelled partway through and saw many budget cuts throughout development. Weapon specific ammo was also ditched late in the process in order to include generic ammo that would allow EA to add micro-transactions. The Dead Space 3 launch was the biggest of 2013 and the time of its release, despite and decline of 26% in one week sales compared to Dead Space 2. We recently detailed here on Thumbstick Gamer, EA’s plan

Assassin's Creed 4 - Details Emerge

Image
Enter Edward Kenway. The next AC installment puts us under the hood of a master pirates during the golden age of piracy, along with dozens of new locations new to the series. You'll play as Edward Kenway, Great-Grand father to Connor from AC3, a master pirate and captain of the Jackdaw (ship) which will allow you to travel and roam the Caribbean as you see fit. Your ship will act as a second main character from what were hearing. Its the key to exploration and setting the world, and without it, there would be nothing. Your ship will be free to customize as you want. Slim her down for fast navigation and travel or load her down with enough fire power to destroy an entire armada. You will also be able to recruit ship hands and deckmaates for your ship which can be lost through natural game play like battles and storms (scurvy). Ubisoft also made it clear that exploration would be seamless. You will be able to leap from the ship into the deep blue and onto land without and

Early Saturday morning The UBISOFT leaked Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag trailer on their website and it quickly made it's way around the web.....What do you think?

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Cover Art Revealed

Image
Forgot to post this up yesterday in my GOW Judgement excitement, but yesterday Ubisoft showed off the cover art for the next AC entry. A leak also outed the release date for AC4 to drop October 29th and will also be released on the PS4 and Next Gen XBOX. Time for me to set down and finish AC3, poor mistreated Connor.
